During the refurbishment of this office building, the glass balustrade on two staircases required restoration. Years of cleaning had taken their toll and most of the panels had various scratches on both sides, making the glass look unsightly.

The glass balustrade would have been difficult to replace, as one piece handrails would need to have been removed and then refitted again afterwards, which is no easy task.

We placed a team of four technicians on this contract, which we completed in five days. The glass was restored to its original condition and our client was exceptionally pleased withthe results.

Cleaning Scratches - Skipton

During the final cleaning of this new build construction, much of the glass within the internal attrium stairwell and balconies suffered scratch damage through careless cleaning practices.

The majority of the scratch damage had been caused by the use of a metal edged tool such as a scraper to remove stickers and debris from its surface.

Replacing the glass would not only have been very expensive, but due to the balustrade glass being bonded at the bottom and the stair handrails being bonded to the top of the glass as a one piece unit on each side, replacement of individual glass units was almost impossible.

As this development had already been handed over to the main client, it was occupied and operational. We restored this glass to its original condition, working out of hours to cause the least amount of distruption.

The cost to replace the damaged glass was quoted at £128,600

Our total charge to repair the damage glass was £5,720.

Total savings to our client - £122,880
